Boulder Symphony rehearses and performs concerts at the First Presbyterian Church, 1820 15th St.

As the community orchestra of Boulder County, our musicians come from all walks of life and volunteer their time to make Boulder Symphony possible.  Our goal is to share with our audiences a truly diverse palette of symphonic music - some familiar, some new.  Our programs include an array of collaborative efforts involving other local groups such as the Boulder Chorale, the Longmont and Greater Boulder Youth Symphonies, and the Cherry Creek Chorale.  Guest artists and composers have included 10-year old wunderkind violinist Phoenix Avalon, well-known local violinist and composer Gregory T.S Walker, and Grammy-nominated composer-in-residence Austin Wintory, among others.

Under the direction of Devin Patrick Hughes, the Boulder Symphony has already become a musical staple of the regional community, sharing its passion for music though thrilling and critically acclaimed performances, world premieres, education and outreach throughout the greater Boulder and Denver metro areas.  The world premiere of composer in residence Austin Wintory’s Gray Rain recently won the Boulder Symphony a Global Music Award.  The Symphony was also featured in award winning documentarian Chuck Fryberger’s Song of the Untouchable.  Recently Maestro Hughes was the only American selected with eleven other conductors worldwide as a finalist in the Arturo Toscanini International Conducting Competition in Italy.

The education and outreach efforts of the Boulder Symphony span the generations.  In partnership with the Circle of Care, seniors in the Boulder community receive complimentary admission to symphony and chamber series concerts.  At the other end of the spectrum, students are also granted free admission to our concerts in hopes that the experience of hearing a live orchestra will inspire a life-long interest in classical music.  Some of our current educational initiatives include partnerships with Pinnacle Charter School, Shepherd Valley Waldorf School and I Have of Dream Foundation of Boulder.
