Girls' Day with Boulder Nepal

Ishani Shrestha's family owns two downtown stores, Boulder Nepal on the Pearl Street Mall and Boulder Bazaar on the East End. Ishani is a Boulder native and even after all of these years, downtown is one of her favorite spots to be! Whether she's walking around the mall, shopping, dining or enjoying street performers or just relaxing on a bench in the sunshine - she truly appreciates Boulder's lifestyle and the town's rich heritage.

Downtown Boulder is the heart of Boulder, Colorado! There is not a better option to where I would want to spend a fun-filled day with the people I love. The beautiful heritage is an outdoor mall where there are variety of shops and eateries. My favorite reason to choose downtown is because of its vintage charm.

I would love to take my aunt out on a ladies’ day out in downtown! I would start my day around 11 in the morning. I would grab a cup of coffee from Ozo Coffee and walk around the mall. Fall is one of my times to walk in the mall because of its warmth and coziness. The coffee would blend in with the cooling temperature and the wonderful flower beds that are always planted in the main blocks. Even though I have spent the last 12 years of my life visiting the Downtown, it never fails to amaze me with the artistic sculptures that are present throughout the blocks.

The first store I would visit is the Peppercorn. It is a must visit store in the mall. They have a wonderful collection of home décor, cooking books, spices, chocolates, cooking appliances and even hand-made perfumes. I easily spend hours in this store and I am sure my aunt would do the same. After this, I would quickly stop by my family’s stores - Boulder Nepal and Boulder Bazaar. We opened in 2006 and are located on the 13th and the 15th. We have an outstanding collection of handicrafts, jewelry, and gift items from Nepal, Tibet, Turkey, Indonesia and from many other parts of the world.

Now, it’s time for lunch! I would choose the West End Tavern for lunch. This restaurant offers a mouth-watering menu of great food. A good burger and fries would be the best choice to go with. They have a huge collection of drinks. I love their variety of beer and cocktails. The environment in there is always upbeat and is one of the favorite hangout places of the locals.

After lunch, we could grab dessert from The Rocky Mountain Chocolate factory. Their caramel apples and chocolate barks are a must try. Then I would love to walk around the downtown and enjoy all of the street performers. They are so charming and indulging with the crowd. They keep the streets lively. I also enjoy all of the Colorado souvenir stores in the downtown, like Where the Buffalo Roam. They are full of CU spirit and a great place to buy a souvenir. I would also make sure to visit Lush and Into the Wind.

Then, we would walk a couple of blocks down to Bramble and Hare for dinner. I love the ambience of this restaurant and their food is delicious. It is a perfect way to end a fun-filled day with a nice dinner and a glass of wine.
