Summer Saturday with Ben & Jerry's

Alexsys Irizarry moved to Boulder three years ago and fell in love with Colorado's natural beauty. She joined the Ben & Jerry’s  team soon after she arrived and has been working there ever since. Alexsys loves the downtown's atmosphere and vibe and enjoys coming to work every day in the heart of Boulder.

I love working at Ben & Jerry’s. The best part of my job is seeing the joy that ice cream brings to so many people. My perfect summer Saturday starts at the Boulder Farmers Market with my sister. I love seeing and buying fresh and local goodies directly from the farmers who grow what they sell. For a filling and delicious breakfast, I head to Snooze for their Pancake of the Day (which is usually a crazy flavor but always delicious).

One of my favorite things to do on a sunny Saturday is people watch while walking along the Pearl Street Mall. The city's Parks Department does such an amazing job with landscaping that I can’t help but stop and admire the flower beds on each block. I stop in my favorite stores on a regular basis (Elison Rd and Lush Cosmetics). Both stores always have the best stuff and their employees are amazingly helpful and friendly.

If I’m craving something sweet, I'll head down to the West End and into Piece, Love & Chocolate for some tasty heart shaped macarons. They have so many great flavors to choose from but Rose is one of my all time favorites.

A little later in the day,  it's likely that you can find me at The Rio for their happy hour.  They have the best margarita and it pairs perfectly with their tasty queso. This is a great way to spend a perfect summer Saturday downtown but come to think of it,  it's not a bad way to spend a Saturday in the fall, winter or spring either!

Why Downtown?

I love Pearl Street because it always has the best things to do with friends and families. I also love all the plants and flowers that they change out every season.
