Rebecca's Herbal Apothecary & Supply

Rebecca Luna is doing what she was born to do - running an herbal apothecary shop. A firm believer that botanical medicine is a birthright, Rebecca’s mission is to create access to healing through raw materials, education and botanical products. However, she didn’t always know this business was her calling.

As a young professional, Rebecca was living in Washington D.C. Like most people her age, she was trying to figure out what she really wanted out of life. She talked to her brother, who lived in Boulder, and he suggested something out of the ordinary - what if Rebecca attended herb school in his area?

After packing her bags and finishing herb school in the mid-1990s, Rebecca taught botanical medicine making. But she felt like she was missing an opportunity to connect with a wider community, so she opened Rebecca’s Herbal Apothecary & Supply in 2004. “The store is really a place to get people excited about botanical medicine and inspired about environmentalism,” said Rebecca.  “You don’t have to have a background in botany to shop here - we offer something for everyone, from makers to buyers. Need help sleeping? Looking to reduce anxiety? There are tons of traditional remedies we can show you, from aromatherapy to tea recipes.”

Over the years, Rebecca has formed close relationships with customers and other downtown business owners. “It’s a total honor and privilege to have a small community shop. I get to be part of people’s lives and watch their kids grow up - it’s incredible. And the small business community is really awesome. I love my neighbors and the pandemic has brought us even closer together because we are working together to get through it and thrive after it’s over.”

To support Rebecca and her mission, spread positive word of mouth to friends and family, and think of her small independent business when it’s time to buy gifts. Follow the store on social media (@rebeccasapothecary) to keep up with the latest news and product offerings.

“It feels like such an honor to get to do what we do. Everyone that works in my shop believes in our work and is invested in our mission. My hope is that each day, we make the world a better place.” Stop by the store to meet Rebecca and learn more about the applications and benefits of botanical medicine.
