New in Town with The Riverside

Brandon moved to Boulder from Austin, TX in June 2019 with his wife Lori, daughters Olivia, Lucia, Lillian and dog Blanca. He spent the last 20 years in Austin and felt that it was time venture to another city equally as awesome while his girls are still young. He’s been in the events industry for 16 years and specializes in special event centers, which is why he took the position as Venue Director at The Riverside.

As a newbie downtown, I'm still discovering places every day.  I’m always open to whatever's happening and love to be part of the community.  There are always people out and about and, I want to be in the mix. Whether it's the Farmer's Market, Bands on the Bricks or a local band playing a bar or coffee shop there is no shortage of being where the action is downtown. Here's a few businesses that have already made my favorites list.  

In the mornings to get me ready for the day ahead I need a nitro cold brew from Ozo's West End location or if I'm up for a stroll, I head to their new East End spot for a refreshing yerba mate. Lunchtime downtown offers a variety of options. For lunch, I'm a sucker for Jaipur where you can get a daily lunch special under $10 (be sure to try their Chicken Tikka Masala).  Another favorite lunch spot of mine is Falafel King on the Pearl Street Mall. My go to is the Falafel Vegetarian Plate that includes six falafel balls and two Mediterranean sides. T/aco has a pretty amazing happy hour.  Deliciously cheap tacos AND margaritas!? Sign me up! 

On the weekends, I like to spend time with my squad. Since we are all new to the area, I want to experience downtown as a family together. We visit Boulder Book Store once a week. It's such an amazing place. 

Fortunately, there are cool retailers on every block downtown, check out Patagonia if you are climbing or camping enthusiast. There is so many places to explore and a never ending amount of activities to enjoy.  Downtown is a pretty awesome place to be!
