Graduation season is officially here, and as a college senior myself, it’s starting to feel very real with CU’s graduation approaching in just a few weeks. Whether you’re celebrating a college senior, a high school grad, or someone special in your life, this time of year is all about big milestones, new chapters, and finding the perfect way to say “I’m proud of you.”

There is so much happening in the near future to check out downtown, and whether you’re someone who loves to plan things out or prefers to wander and see where the day takes you, there are plenty of reasons to spend some time here in the coming weeks. From can’t-miss events to sweet treats and a wave of new spots to explore, here's what to keep on your radar.

Whether you’re up with the sun or just in need of a little midday rest, there’s something about a good cup of coffee that can completely shift your day. Luckily, downtown Boulder has no shortage of go-to spots, whether you’re looking to ease into a slow morning or find somewhere to lock in and get some work done. Here are a few of my favorite places to start your day, or keep it going.

Spring Break just wrapped up, and if you’re anything like me, you’re probably already looking for something fun to look forward to. Luckily, you don’t have too look far. This Sunday, March 29th from 2-5 p.m., Pearl Street is turning into one big tasting experience for the annual Taste of Pearl, and it’s one of those afternoons you won’t want to miss.

It’s the equinox, and that means I’m reflecting on balance. Here in Downtown Boulder, we see a delicate balance, a microcosm of society every day. People gather in our shared spaces for festivals, for fellowship, for free speech events, and for moments of mourning. Businesses open and businesses close. And it’s also a place where policy is decided: policies discussed over coffees, lunches, cocktails, and in our elected officials’ chambers. Sometimes those conversations are balanced, and sometimes they feel exhausting.

Sadly, my summer internship at Downtown Boulder Partnership is coming to a close. But it's not goodbye, just see you later, downtown.

On the surface, this seems like a shiny, happy idea. To those who appreciated the novelty of pandemic-era emergency innovation, spending a sunny day walking and dining on streets normally used by cars sounds great.
But the current reality is much different, and this petition is not in the best interests of our community and the people who love spending time in our downtown and come here every day. Please join our growing coalition to Keep West Pearl Open."

This Monday, February 24th marks the inaugural Boulder Go Out to Lunch Day - making it the perfect excuse to ditch the desk lunch and treat yourself to a delicious mid-day meal. Join us every last Monday of the month to support downtown restaurants during lunchtime.

From strolling along the Pearl Street Mall to enjoy the festive lighting and celebrating winter-themed events to last minute gift shopping opportunities and booking dinner reservations - it’s the most wonderful time of the year to Love the Local!

Earlier this month, we gathered downtown business owners and stakeholders for our Fall Town Hall at eTown, where we learned about the results from our 2024 Visitor Intercept Survey, conducted by RRC, commissioned by Downtown Boulder Partnership, Visit Boulder and the city of Boulder. This survey has been conducted every other year since 1995 which provides meaningful longitudinal data to see why and how people come downtown and what they think about, it once they got here.
This summer, 775 people took the survey, compared to 669 in 2022. Despite a high office vacancy rate, (a lingering effect of post-COVID redefinition of the traditional office model), locals are coming downtown. Just over half of the Colorado respondents in the survey were from Boulder vs. 43% in 2018. Among locals, 25% live in north Boulder, which is likely a result of more housing being built in that part of town. Aside from Boulder, the biggest Colorado cities of origin are predictably Longmont, Denver, Lafayette, Broomfield and Louisville. Out-of-town visitors play a crucial role in sustaining and energizing downtown Boulder’s economy.

As November draws to a close, it is important to understand the significance of Native American Heritage Month and the ongoing effort to learn about Native American history. This month celebrates and gives acknowledgement to many of the indigenous tribes across the nation.

As we get closer to Thanksgiving, the thought of creating a meal might be stressful to some, but fear not! As many of us know, this week contains numerous events that culminate on Sunday with a few tricks and a lot of treats! From Munchkin Masquerade to a Speakeasy Halloween party, there are many events happening this weekend to dress up and enjoy a few nights of ghoulish fun.

This week I decided to explore some shops that are along the beautiful stretch of downtown. Even as someone who grew up in Boulder and around downtown, there are so many shops that I have never been to before. This week I decided to stop by some that caught my eye as I was walking around or ones that I have had my eye on to visit for a long time and I thought I’d share them with you!

We all like a good throw back to reminisce on our younger days, right? Well today, just in time for Throwback Thursday, I want to share a few of my personal favorite restaurants that I’ve either been going to since I was in elementary school when my dad worked at the Boulder Theater or that I discovered in high school.

Fall seems to pass fast here in Boulder, but it doesn’t mean that you can’t take your time to enjoy what downtown has to offer! Today, I have 5 recommendations for food and events for you to enjoy throughout October and November.

The first day of Autumn was September 22 which means fall is upon us! I am so excited for the various decor, drinks, food, clothing and other seasonal items. I want to share a few places I love that have some fall items rolling out already.

There are many places to grab a bite along the four blocks of the Pearl Street Mall and even more delicious places along the East and West End districts. Today, I’m sharing two of my favorites. The first place is an old favorite of mine ( I used to go there all the time in high school with my friends) and the other is a new-to-me place that I can see myself returning to again and again in the future.

I’m sure there’s many of you out there feeling the stress of  students in your household starting school again as well. I have a great idea for a stress buster for your entire family... Fall Fest has come to the rescue for everyone! 

This morning, I was stuck on what to explore and write about this week. As I was walking along East Pearl, I wandered into a shop and I was immediately greeted by one of my favorite things-stickers!

My name is Cash and I’m the Downtown Boulder Partnership’s fall intern. I have lived in Boulder for a large portion of my life and love downtown Boulder and its treasures. I am currently a Senior at CU Denver studying Communication with a minor in Sociology and a Certificate in Strategic Communications.

Unfortunately, this will be the last time I’m writing to you as my summer internship wraps up. In the last few months, I’ve had a fantastic time trying new places around downtown Boulder and learning more about the awesome people that make up the Boulder community. I have been fortunate enough to pick up lots of real-world experience while getting to work in our beautiful downtown district. 

Last week I finally attended the event I have been excited about all summer, Bands on the Bricks. This was the first time I had ever attended an event like this, and I had an absolute blast! I got to see the Eagles cover band, The Long Run, perform. While I didn’t and still don’t know many Eagles songs, the Long Run put on an awesome show that people of all ages enjoyed! 

Summer is in full swing in Boulder, which means an abundance of sun and a few scorching hot days along the way. Luckily, downtown Boulder has plenty of ways to cool off when it feels like you are melting outside!

Since I came to Boulder almost two years ago I’ve had so many awesome experiences downtown! I’d normally say that one day to experience all of the amazing restaurants, shops and outdoor activities is just not enough but, I wanted to try to narrow it down so that if you only had one day, here are my top recommendations of the best way to spend one perfect day in downtown Boulder.

Summertime is here which means it is time to get outside and enjoy all the amazing things that downtown Boulder has to offer. This is my first summer in Boulder and I’m looking forward to taking in all of the super fun events and taking advantage of the range of outdoor activities available in Boulder. 

This week I took an in-depth look at the history of one of downtown’s oldest businesses. Hurdle's Jewelry store is a fourth-generation family-run business operating in downtown Boulder since the store was founded in 1947.

This week, I stopped by the delicious breakfast and lunch restaurant Organic Sandwich Co, on the East End. As someone who loves sandwiches and has seen the menu numerous times while walking around downtown, I was extremely excited to finally try one of their mouth watering creations.

Father’s Day is here, and it is time to celebrate the dependable and loving dads in our lives. It is time reserved to spend time with close family and appreciate everything that dads do for us. On Father’s Day, my family and I always get outside to enjoy the sunshine, whether playing catch with my dad and brothers, golfing or having a family barbecue.

This week I checked out the iconic Boulder breakfast and lunch spot, Foolish Craig’s. I had heard about Foolish Craig’s delicious crepes and locally famous Corned Beef Hash since arriving on campus last year, so I was excited to experience it in person!

Summertime is right around the corner, which means the end of the school year is here. Kids are ready to put their books down, get off of Zoom and start taking advantage of gorgeous weather in Boulder by playing outside and getting together with friends.

Memorial Day weekend is one of the best times to get together with family and friends to enjoy beautiful weather and eat delicious food. I am excited to experience my first Memorial Day in Boulder because of the fantastic weather, scenery and food options that contribute to making downtown Boulder the perfect place to spend a long weekend!

I never thought the day would come, but I am sitting here writing my last blog as an intern with the Downtown Boulder Partnership! I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to share my perspective and experiences with downtown Boulder businesses with you all!

This week, I wanted to write an extra blog to feature some of the new places I got to try this semester that stood out to me! I thought it would be fun to go to all these places and capture my ventures on film, but there was a bit of a hiccup.

As we all know, the COVID-19 pandemic has shaken up our lives in more ways than one. One of the new normals we have had to adapt to is changing workspaces. While working from home seems ideal at first, it can quickly drain you of motivation and leave you dreading work.

It’s the start of a new week and I’m hoping the 60 degree weather is here to stay. Every time it is beginning to warm up, that means Downtown Boulder is also starting to thrive with plants, people… and art!

With warmer temperatures and blooming tulips, it has become more and more enticing to spend all day outside. One of the most fun ways to spend time outside is… you guessed it… on a rooftop! Downtown Boulder has a variety of rooftops and patios to choose from so you can sit outside and soak up the sun, all while enjoying great food and drinks.

The devastation of the past week has created a need for the Boulder community to support each other more than ever. The tragic events that unfolded have taken a toll on us all, and I want to use this blog to offer resources to help you cope through these trying times, as well as to update you on what the downtown Boulder community is doing to help.

As I’m sure many of us know, downtown Boulder got quite a bit of snow this past weekend. I am personally a big fan of snow days, but I know a lot of people dread them (along with the shoveling that accompanies them). I am here to give you a few ideas of how downtown Boulder can help you prepare for future snowy weekends so you have a little bit more fun, and to give you ideas of what to do once it gets warm again.

It is mid-March which means one of my favorite holidays is right around the corner… St. Patrick’s Day! I always love seeing people and towns turn green, with smiles on their faces. To me, St. Patrick's Day always marks the start of Spring, whether it be 10 degrees and snowing or 50 degrees and sunny. In this blog, I will give you ideas of ways to celebrate in either circumstance!

As many of you know, Black History Month, celebrated during the month of February (each year since 1976), is an annual celebration of achievements by the Black community and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. 

Now more than ever, random acts of kindness are standing out and making a mark. Today is 2021’s National Random Acts of Kindness day, so let’s take this opportunity to bring joy into a world that has gone through a lot recently.

I get to do a lot of fun things for my job. In addition to my most favorite thing, which is visiting businesses in downtown and catching up with staff or just saying hi, I have the opportunity to get creative with the ways we interact with our businesses and the general public.

I am someone that loves reality television, and one of my favorite shows to watch is The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. The finale is this week and I am so eager to see who Hannah will give the final rose to. To prepare for this monumental television event, you need to stop by some downtown Boulder shops to get some Bachelorette essentials. 

In recent years the act of “thrifting” has become hugely popular. The used items trend could be attributed to Macklemore’s 2012 hit song “Thrift Shop”, the hipster fashion craze, or the influential green movement. Whatever the reason, thrifting has become one of my favorite things to do.

It’s that time of the year, folks… Pearl Street Arts Fest! The vibrant and exciting event starts this Friday, July 19th at 3 pm with a special 14th Street Artists Preview then lasts all weekend.

As you probably know, the beach is very different from our downtown district and I have a lot of beach necessities I have to pick up before I leave. Luckily for me, all the items I need for the beach can be found within downtown Boulder! 

In case you didn’t know, the 4th of July is this Thursday and I’m here to inform you of all the activities and celebrations happening this week so you can celebrate to the fullest!

Soon my entire family will be in Colorado, and while I am so excited to see them, I am a little nervous about keeping them all entertained and happy. Luckily I live and work in an excellent area that truly has something for everyone!

I love spending my summers with kids because there are so many fun activities to do. This is my first summer in Boulder, and the opportunities for kids to play and learn are endless, making my job as a nanny substantially easier.

Downtown Boulder would not be the wonderful place it is without the support of the many hardworking and friendly employees that make up the local business scene.

The weather in May is always unpredictable, yet instead of embracing it, I continue to be surprised and upset every year when I see rain and snow in the forecast. I am usually a morning person, but it has been really hard to leave my bed these past couple of weeks. Luckily, I am a coffee addict and I have a couple of go-to shops that feed my addiction to make my days much less groggy.

My name is Sally and I am Downtown Boulder’s summer intern. I am excited to be spending the summer in such a charming and inimitable place! I am an incoming junior at CU, studying marketing and leadership with a couple of certificates thrown in there.

Sadly, all good things must come to an end. This is my last week as an intern and I really can’t believe how fast time has flown by!

Here’s a random fact about me, tulips are hands down my favorite flower. I love the fact that they’re scentless and don’t give me a headache, they come in a variety of bright colors, and they signify that warm weather and sunshine are well on their way!

Lazy Sundays and brunch dates go together like champagne and orange juice, the perfect combination to kick off the start of a new week. With Easter Sunday coming in hot now’s the time to start booking those brunch reservations!

We all know that Boulder is a beautiful place, there’s no denying it, but if you look around town you’ll find that there are some ridiculously beautiful people who live here as well.

My heart broke when I heard that one of my favorite East End stores and downtown shopping destinations, Common Era, is closing its doors after two decades.

As fall semester begins to come to an end so does my internship here at Downtown Boulder. This will be my last blog post as an intern! I cannot believe how fast this semester and my internship went by. I am walking away having learned tons of new skills. I’ve met a lot of amazing people and gotten to experience many of the great attributes of working downtown! I am just finishing up first semester of my junior year at CU Boulder, next I will be exploring Europe and studying abroad in Prague for the spring semester.

It is really starting to feel like the holidays here in downtown Boulder. After a great kick off to the holiday season with Switch on the Holidays, the grand illumination of the Pearl Street Mall, it's beginning to feel like the most wonderful time of the year! Along with festive lights and the holidays fast approaching comes show stopping window displays! I love strolling downtown this time of year for the sole reason of looking at the beautiful holiday displays the stores downtown have created. I wanted to showcase the best of the best of the best this year so all of you can see for yourselves the craftsmanship that goes into curating these festive displays.

This time of the year always inspires me to step back and reflect on things that I am grateful for. This year especially I am grateful to the downtown Boulder community for curating an environment unlike anywhere else, some place that truly feels like home. I feel privileged to live in such an incredible community where there is something for everyone to enjoy, an abundance of delicious food and drink options, events that bring the community together, and a beautiful city to learn and create in. I want to highlight five things downtown that I am grateful for and embody the lively downtown community.

Downtown is the perfect place for my friends and I to have a girls’ day. We love to head downtown to explore the shops, soak up the beautiful weather, and enjoy delicious dining and drinks.

Growing up in Boulder is an experience I wouldn't trade for the world. One amazingly unique feature about downtown and the surrounding community is the emphasis on supporting local businesses. Downtown Boulder has an abundance of locally owned shops and restaurants that have established a loyal customer base and have helped encourage the idea of shopping and dining locally. The term “Love the Local” has been coined to inspire residents and visitors to shop and dine locally.

The East End of the Pearl Street Mall is home to diverse businesses, unique shops and delicious dining options. The East End offers a one-of-a-kind experience to downtown Boulder, something you don’t want to miss out. I wanted to highlight some of my favorite places on the East End, these awesome spots are surely some of downtown Boulders hidden gems!

Wintertime on the Pearl Street Mall is one of the most beautiful times of the year. The bricks dusted in snow and the sleepy atmosphere of the mall make for a scene that looks like it belongs on a postcard. While many believe the prime time to enjoy downtown Boulder is during the warmer seasons, winter offers many fun, cozy, indoor activities that everyone can enjoy.

One thing downtown Boulder is definitely known for is its eclectic dining scene. I feel so lucky to live in a place where restaurants offer fresh food from local farms, a variety of cuisine types, talented chefs and innovative restaurateurs who make dining downtown an exciting, special and memorable experience. I wanted to highlight my favorite places ranging from cozy breakfast spots, classic American pubs to elegant fine dining experiences and everything in between!

On Friday night the undefeated Buffs are set to take on the UCLA Bruins at 7pm. But before another exciting home game at Folsom Field you don’t want to miss out on the Stampede happening on Thursday night! The Pearl Street Stampede is the perfect way to show your support for the Buffs and get excited for upcoming games!

Ladies this Thursday, September 20th from 5 pm to 8 pm grab your BFFs, co-workers, family members and head downtown for our second annual Girls’ Night Out! There will be over 30 downtown retailers participating in the event that will treat you to in-store special prizes, free tastings and more!

One of my absolute favorite things about downtown Boulder is the abundance of coffee shops. As a coffee addict I love being able to have different options to choose from. On Pearl Street you simply cannot go wrong with any local coffee shop located downtown!

My name is Emma and I am the new Downtown Boulder Intern for Fall 2018. I am currently entering my junior year at CU Boulder where I am studying Advertising and double-minoring in Business and Communication.

I can’t believe that my internship with Downtown Boulder is coming to an end! What an amazing journey this has been, I’m glad that I was able to experience my first internship right in the heart of Boulder.

As I head into my senior year at CU I can’t help but to think about how excited and nervous all the incoming freshmen will be. I remember those days like it was only yesterday! Now that I’m getting older-ish I am ready to sprinkle my wisdom and knowledge onto the next generation of young Buffs.

The Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse is one of Boulder’s most unique attractions. The story that lies behind the teahouse is one that symbolizes years of friendship between two cities on opposite sides of the globe. The teahouse was built by hand in Dushanbe, Tajikistan in 1987 and then was gifted to Boulder.

Summer is almost over, and school will soon be back in session, so I’ve decided to come up with a list of 5 things I need to experience before this summer slips away.

Pizza is probably my number one favorite food. I’m never not in the mood for pizza. Any kind of pizza, simple or gourmet, thin or thick crust, I will eat it! I guess I’m just a sucker for any food item that includes cheese and bread. I’ve scoped out some of my favorite pizza spots in downtown Boulder to review for all of you to try.

Everyone loves a delicious brunch, and when you’re in Downtown Boulder the brunch options are endless. It’s hard to narrow down on just a couple of restaurants, but I’ve chosen my top 3 all time favorites that can’t be missed.

Last week I finally got to experience Bands On The Bricks, and let me tell you it was a lot of fun! I had two of my pals tag along and we headed straight for the beer garden for some of the renowned Rio margaritas. Then we settled in near the front of the beer garden for a prime view of the show

Downtown is known for being one of the best shopping destinations on the front range. Some of my favorite  hot spots to shop happen to be on the West End. I’ve highlighted 5 different shops that can’t be missed on your next retail therapy day.

So one of the major perks about this internship is that you constantly get to explore downtown. I get to scope out all of the new stores and restaurants that pop up, and give an insider's perspective to all of you. 

In honor of it being Tuesday, I found it appropriate for my blog post this week to be centered around “Taco Tuesday”. Taco Tuesday is a popular event that happens in Boulder just each and every week, so might as well enjoy it right? The drink and food deals happening downtown are one’s that can’t be missed.

Memorial Day is right around the corner, and of course, Downtown Boulder will be buzzing with events and people! If you’re wondering what to do on Memorial Day (and weekend) don’t worry, I’m here to help.

I truly cannot believe I am at the end of this experience with Downtown Boulder and my college career. What a treat it was to work with this wonderful organization in my last internship as an undergrad. The passion and dedication of the team I worked with will ruin me forever as I search for an job with the same warm and charismatic culture as the Downtown Boulder Partnership.

I think it's safe to say that most people’s favorite time of year is summer and I would definitely qualify as one of those people. I’m not sure if it’s the nostalgia of summer break as a kid, or if it’s the beautiful weather, but we can all appreciate a nice, gorgeous summer day.

Whenever the weather is nice or I’ve had a looong day, downtown’s happy hours call my name (and for those of you who don’t know, we have some pretty good ones to choose from)! As we get ramped up for spring, we are getting ready for a jam packed season full of events downtown. One of the favorite events around the office is Taste of Pearl. Personally, I am really excited to be a part of what sounds like a really fun event.

I know you’re all probably just as excited as I am for all of the St. Patrick’s day festivities - green beer, bagpipes and kilts! Such an exciting time and with the luck of the Irish, it lands on a Saturday this year!

As 2018 begins, so does the last semester of my senior year at CU Boulder.

It’s a special time of year for Downtown Boulder Partnership where business owners from across the downtown community come together to eat, network, and reflect on the accomplishments of past year. This year’s luncheon was especially exciting because... I was there! 

Hi everyone! My name is Alicia, and I am Downtown Boulder’s new spring intern! To start, I am so excited to work behind the scenes and participate in what makes downtown so special.

As this fall semester has come to a fast and unexpected close, so has my internship with Downtown Boulder. After these last four months of interning here, I am happy to be able to walk away with some real-life experience under my belt. As a senior, I will be graduating this upcoming May and (hopefully) begin my post-grad life as a young professional soonafter! I am thankful that this internship has given me an opportunity to get a hands-on glimpse and head start towards my future.

Starting this Friday you are invited downtown for a snowman hunt! This holiday season, show your love for local shops with Find Freezie. Freezie the snowman is hidden in 26 downtown businesses.

With the busy holiday season upon us, and the year coming toward an end, it can be hard to catch a break and take time to relax.

Downtown Boulder is home to many beautiful businesses, and many of these businesses have very aesthetic Instagram accounts that capture the best that downtown has to offer!

The snow welcomes the University of Colorado Homecoming Weekend here in Boulder, but don’t worry, the temperatures will be back to 60 just in time for the CU vs. Cal game. 

Halloween is just around the corner, and downtown Boulder has all the best shops for finding your Halloween costume. Whether you’re looking to get decked out or dress up more casually, we have all the right stops for you.

My internship with Downtown Boulder has sadly come to an end, which also means we are in the last days of summer vacation.

Just six days into the month of August, the Pearl Street Mall will be turning forty! The Mall is a lively and continuously evolving attraction, and it is only right that we pay tribute to some of the businesses that have blessed the Pearl Street Mall and the blocks adjacent for the duration of its forty years.

In the age of the smartphone and Instagram filters, everyone is basically a professional photographer! We have compiled a list of the most aesthetically pleasing spots around downtown Boulder for you  to reference next time you want to rack up the "likes" or improve your Pinterest page, if that’s more your style.

I was recently recruited for some intern labor outside the office walls to help with the Bands on the Bricks. I was fortunate enough to have my first experience working Bands on the Bricks during the Hazel Miller Band.

Downtown Boulder’s premier summer music series, Bands on the Bricks kicked off last week, celebrating its 20th anniversary! In the approaching week, Last Men On Earth will be blessing the bricks on the 21st with a plethora of classic cuts from the 70s 80s and 90s.

It’s about that time… graduation. I still can’t believe how fast these four years have flown by. I have mixed emotions about graduating but I can’t wait to see the look on my mom’s face.

The tulips are finally here! This is my favorite time of year watching the beautiful bulbs showcase their vibrant colors throughout Pearl Street Mall.

My cousin and brother recently made big steps in their lives. During spring break, I am finally meeting my cousin’s new puppy and visiting her house in New Jersey.

As always, downtown is the place to be for St. Patrick’s Day! I am so excited to celebrate this year since I haven’t had the opportunity in the past.

With midterms approaching, it’s time to hit the books! When I want to take a break from campus, I stroll down to the Pearl Street Mall to visit my favorite study spots.

I recently visited the Reality Garage located on the Pearl Street Mall! What a unique experience. In less than a second I went from Glacier County, Montana to the streets of Manhattan.

Hey football fans! After another exciting season of NFL football, the time has come. The Super Bowl is just a few days away! Growing up a sports fan, this is one of my favorite times of the year.
